Master Hopi carver Stetson Honyumptewa is renowned as one of the leading contemporary kachina carvers. Subsequently his work is highly sought-after and can be hard to find under five figures. He has gone from the traditional "bellyache" style to figures of dancers carved from one-piece, detailed, with incredibly fluid motion. He is known for his incredible detail and attention to proportionate anatomy. He has paved the way for many carvers in the younger generation, including his nephew Ronald Honyumptewa.He participates in the Hopi ceremonies with relatives and other peers such as Loren Phillips, and others.
